At East Northport Mcdonald’s At 10:30 A.M.
(Long Island, NY) It’s “bring your own cans of cranberry sauce”, and other canned and boxed non-perishable foods to Long Island McDonalds as we host our Annual Food Drive benefitting Long Island Cares, Inc., – The Harry Chapin Food Bank; Long Island’s Regional Food Bank, this year.We will kickoff our food drive at the East Northport McDonald’s located at 1999 East Jericho Turnpike on Monday, November 2nd at 10:30 a.m.
Thanks to the help of numerous Suffolk and Nassau County Girl Scout troops, food drive collection boxes have been decorated with thoughtful reminders of the importance of thankfulness, and has brought excitement to the troop members about the fact that we are giving back to those in need in our communities. There are 316,000 neighbors struggling with food insecurity in Nassau and Suffolk counties, and we hope that we are able to help make a difference. The food collection boxes will be stationed in the lobby of the participating Long Island’s McDonalds locations from November 1st through December 23rd 2015.
“We’re so excited for this opportunity to collaborate with McDonald’s restaurants on Long Island this year to collect food donations to help our neighbors in need as we enter the holiday season,” said Long Island Cares’ CEO, PaulePachter. “The McDonald’s brand is one of the most recognizable names throughout the world, and Long Island Cares’ name is one of the most recognizable charities as being the regional food bank for Long Island. McDonald’s also has a reputation for its philanthropy, especially through the wonderful services their Ronald McDonald’s Houses provide that support children and families struggling with health crises. Hunger and chronic food insecurity on Long Island is a similar crisisthat affects 316,000 Long Island Islanders including 70,000 children. This opportunity to collaborate with McDonald’s to make the holidays special for families in need makes all of us feel very proud knowing that Long Island Cares and McDonald’s will be making a difference this holiday season.”
“We are happy to partner with Long Island Caresto address the critical issue of hunger in our communities. In these trying economic timeswhere many families are faced with challenges of putting food on the table or paying bills, it is our hope that we are able to help make the holidays brighter for those going through hardships,” said Luciana Montuoro, Long Island McDonald’s Marketing and Public Relations Director. “The Long Island McDonald’s Owner/Operators are proud to once again support a respected organization such as Long Island Cares and to work together with them on their mission to provide meals for those in need this Holiday season.” says Mike Daggett, President, Long Island McDonald’s Owner and Operators Assoc.
Donations of canned and boxed foods, juice boxes, coffee, and baby formula can be dropped off anytime during Long Island McDonald’s business hours; and will be delivered to Long Island Cares by dozens of volunteers throughout the duration of the food drive.
