(Long Island, NY) Dr. Victor Politi, Nassau University Medical Center’s President /CEO, will be joined at a press conference by a 17 year old boy who became paralyzed in a swimming accident at Jones Beach in May. The press conference will be held Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 10:30 am at NUMC in East Meadow to thank doctors for life saving surgery as he walks again.
Nico Fiorello, a student at Seaford High School, broke every bone in his neck, with one bone splintering and pushing into his spinal cord, when he dove into the water at Jones Beach, hitting his head on a sand bar. Nico underwent multiple surgeries and had several bolts, rods and threads put into his back and neck. It was thought that he would never walk again.
His family will be attending the press conference to also thank the doctors and staff for bringing back to them the teen who loves to swim and participate in athletics.
