Lisa will be running in honor of her uncle, the late-Assemblyman James D. Conte. Conte, who represented Huntington in the State Assembly for 24 years and died in 2012 as a result of complications from T-Cell Lymphoma.
“Assemblyman Conte served as a tireless advocate, working every day to raise awareness about important health issues and improve the lives of those around him,” said Lupinacci.
“Jim’s efforts helped pave the way for important programs such as the Donate Life Registry and Lauren’s Law. I am sure he would be tremendously proud to see his niece Lisa continue this legacy by raising awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). I want to applaud Lisa for her efforts and wish her the best of luck in the Half-Marathon. It will serve as a fitting tribute to the memory of such a great man,” said Lupinacci.
LLS works to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.
