A letter to the editor from Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,I-South Huntington)
(Long Island, NY) During the past week, we have seen a deliberate act of terror take the lives of five servicemen, leaving the city of Chattanooga, Tennessee devastated and in mourning. The people of New York are grieving with the families of the murdered servicemen. I join my constituents, the people of New York State, and the nation in condemning this despicable and deplorable act of violence against our armed forces and nation.
As a state, it is not only our responsibility but our moral and civic duty to stand united with our fellow states in times of national tragedy. This, indeed, is a point which we must stand with the people of Tennessee in prayer, and visually support them by lowering our flags to half-staff.
I implore Gov. Andrew Cuomo to lower our flags in honor of the five senselessly murdered men in uniform. The fallen servicemen, their families, and the state of Tennessee deserve our honor and respect. New York must stand with our fellow Americans in mourning this tragic loss.
