(Huntington, NY) Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,WF,I-Huntington Station) recently joined members of the Farmingdale Horticulture Committee to salute Dr. Gary A. “Doc” Brown. Dr. Brown, a full professor at the department of Ornamental Horticulture and Biology at Farmingdale State College, was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Farmingdale Horticulture Committee.

“Doc Brown has spent his life teaching and inspiring students,” said Lupinacci. “For 43 years he has helped shape the lives of students at Farmingdale College’s Agriculture and Health Science Department and at the Farmingdale Ornamental Horticulture Department. His accomplishments are immense, and he’s been recognized by groups like the Long Island Arboriculture Association, the Nassau Suffolk Landscape Gardeners Association and in 2008, he was named Man of the Year by the Long Island Nursery and Landscape Association.”
The Farmingdale Horticulture Committee offers financial support to the Ornamental Horticulture Department, its students, the display gardens and to attract new students to the program. The committee also sponsors the Teach Gardens Intern program, awards annual scholarships and provides stipends for students to enroll in a study abroad program in Florence, Italy.
