(Rockville Centre, NY) – Lynn Jennings Taylor, RN, JD, is rejoining Catholic Health Services of Long Island (CHS) as senior vice president for risk management and patient safety officer. In this capacity, Taylor will report to and work closely with CHS Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer Joel Yohai, MD. Previously, Taylor worked for CHS as a vice president of risk management after having been with St. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center®, for more than a decade where she was vice president of legal affairs and special counsel for corporate compliance.
Taylor brings more than 20 years experience in health care, both on Long Island and in New York city. Previously, she served as senior vice president of legal affairs for Richmond University Medical Center, a 510-bed urban teaching medical center serving a diverse population. Earlier, she was senior vice president for Healthcare for the New York City office of Marsh and McLennan, the world’s largest insurance broker.
She is highly regarded in her field for her negotiation skills and risk management strategies. Taylor helped to establish a system-wide approach to building teamwork in critical situations such as those that might occur in obstetrical care. This concept known as Crew Resource Management earned CHS the Pinnacle Award in 2010, the highest award granted by HANYS.
Taylor, who received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from the Catholic University of America, served as a lieutenant in the U. S. Navy, Nurse Corps, for three years and later earned her doctorate in jurisprudence from St. John’s University School of Law. She resides in Manhasset where she is a past vice commander of the American Legion Post 304.
