(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Pattern Crime Unit detectives are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred at a Melville bank on Thursday, December 31.
A man entered Citibank, located at 425 Broadhollow Road, at approximately 11:25 a.m. and placed a bag on the counter in front of a teller who backed away from the counter. The man then handed a different teller a note demanding cash. The second teller also backed away from the counter and the man fled on foot without proceeds.

The robber left his bag and as a precaution the bank was evacuated. Emergency Service Section officers responded and deemed the bag safe.
The suspect was described as black, 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build. He wore a black mask, a black hooded jacket, dark jeans and sneakers.
