(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who attempted to rob a Medford check cashing store.
A man entered Pay-O-Matic, located at 2690 Route 112, holding a gas can and a water bottle that was filled with gasoline. He told the clerk that the bottle contained gasoline and demanded money.

The suspect then began pouring the gasoline from the bottle onto the counter and into the concave slot below the bullet resistant glass. The clerk ran from the counter and activated the alarm, causing the suspect to flee with no proceeds.

The man was described as white, approximately 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark colored jacket with a hood and had a black mask covering his mouth and part of his nose.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
