(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in Huntington Station on Saturday, August 8.
Second Precinct police officers responded to the area of West Hills Road and President Street after a 911 caller reported a shooting at approximately 1:35 a.m. When officers arrived they discovered Nelson Hernandez lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his back.

An investigation by Second Squad detectives revealed that Hernandez was shot by unknown person(s) while he was walking on West Hills Road near President Street. Hernandez, 22 of Huntington Station, was transported to Huntington Hospital in serious condition.
