THE 2014 WINTER CONCERT SERIES AND A 2014 WINTER JAZZ EXPERIENCE AND MORE!
(Riverhead, NY) Martha Clara Vineyards welcomes 2014 with two Live Musical Series, each offering regularly scheduled live musical performances by a well curated line-up of local favorites, nationally and internationally recognized talent.
THE MARTHA CLARA VINEYARD 2014 WINTER CONCERT SERIES:
Now going into its’ 4th year in 2014, The Martha Clara Vineyard Winter Concert Series kicked off this series on Saturday, January 11th with a Sold Out performance by JUST GROOVIN.’ Just Groovin’ comprises 9 talented musicians who keep their audiences movin’ and groovin’ to best dance music of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. It was the perfect Opening Concert for the 2014 Winter Concert Series highlighting cover Bands paying tribute to the Great Music of the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and Great Bands from that era like The Allman Brothers.
The 2014 Winter Concert Series continues with performances by the following bands:
- Saturday, January 25th – Seven Turns: A Tribute to The Allman Brothers Band
- Saturday, February 8th – The Nancy Atlas Project
Local talent, singer/songwriter Nancy Atlas has achieved international recognition with what has been called her unique blend of Original Americana Rock with a touch of Southern Comfort. Along with her band, The Project, she has opened up for Crosby, Stills and Nash, Jon Bon Jovi, Jimmy Buffet, Elvis Costello, Michael McDonald, Paul Simon, Joan Osborne, Clarence Clemons, Jeff Buckley and Nancy Sinatra, just to name a few. We expect her to Rock the House at Martha Clara Vineyards with her amazing talent! Reserve early for what promises to be a sold-out event!
- Friday, February 21st – White Wedding: The Most Totally Radical 80’s Tribute Band Around! Guests are encouraged to come dressed in 80’s garb!
In addition to the 2014 WINTER CONCERT SERIES, Martha Clara Vineyards has also created the 2014 WINTER JAZZ EXPERIENCE SERIES, a first series of its’ kind for the Vineyard this year. This series kicks off on Friday, January 17th and highlights top jazz performers in the area.
Included in this line-up are:
- Friday, January 17th – Claes Brondal and The Soul Jazz Train Express Soul Jazz was developed in the late 1950s and precedes Soul music as we know it today. This five piece band comprises: Bob Hovey on Trombone; Eric Schugren on Sax; Bryan Campbell on Guitar; Peter Weiss on Bass and Claes Brondal on Drums
- Friday, January 31st – The Latin Jazz Odyssey, featuring a compilation of Afro/Caribean Music, Instrumental Mambos and Jazz. This 4 piece band comprises: Jim Campagnola on Sax; Bill Smith on Piano; Essiet Okon Essiet on Bass and Sylvia Cuenca on Drums.
- Friday, February, 14th – Valentine’s Day Concert featuring Afro-Latin Jazz Band Hands in Motion with Yacouba Sissoko on Kora; Edward Perez on Bass; Bill Smith on Piano and Sylvia Cuenca on Drums. Their repertoire is an authentic mixture of African, Latin and Jazz. The harp-like sound of the Kora creates a beautiful foundation and constant to compliment the different styles of music.
- Friday, March 21st – The Groove Gumbo Collective. The Groove Gumbo Collective ties in universal rhythms and harmonies in a musical journey ranging from Northern Europe and Africa to Latin America and the US, ultimately cooking up a funky gumbo of musical styles. Featuring the sounds of Max Feldschuh on Vibraphone, Richie Scollo on Sax, Jorge Mesa on Bass and Sylvia Cuenca on Drums.
The concerts in The Winter Jazz Experience Series will be broadcast on The Jam Session Weekly Radio Hour on WPPB, Peconic Public Broadcasting on the Wednesday following each concert.
A FEW GROUND RULES AND DETAILS FOR BOTH CONCERT SERIES:
- Doors for all concerts in both the Martha Clara Vineyard 2014 Winter Concert Series and The 2014 Winter Jazz Experience Series open at 7pm, with performances starting at 7:30pm.
- General Admission Tickets are $20 in advance, and $25 at the door, subject to availability.
- All tickets purchased include a glass of wine.
- Tickets purchased in advance will be held at Will Call beginning at 7pm on the night of the show.They will not be mailed.
- Everyone must present a photo ID upon arrival.
- Table seating is First-Come, First-Served.
- No outside food or drink is permitted.
- No pets during event.
- All attendees must purchase a ticket regardless of age.
- All sales are final. No refunds. These events are rain or shine.

LIVE MUSIC IN THE PAVILION ON SATURDAYS & SUNDAYS:
And if the two Winter Concert Series are not enough music ringing from the walls of this Vineyard, Martha Clara Vineyards also offers live music every weekend. These performances are free, from 1-4pm or 2-5pm on Saturdays and Sundays, featuring a mixed line-up of local talent playing a wide range of popular music, jazz and swing tunes for the broad audience the Vineyard attracts. Following an afternoon wine tasting, enjoy such talented performers as Vanessa Trouble, Keith Maguire, 2 Man Acoustical Jam, The East End Trio, Jon & Anthony’s Acoustic Jam, Chain Reaction and more.
LIVE ON THE VINE – THE LONG ISLAND WINTERFEST SERIES:
Additionally, Martha Clara Vineyards is proud to be a partner in the Live on the Vine – The Long Island Winterfest Series, a 6-week mid-winter music festival which takes place in Long Island’s unique vineyard tasting rooms, hotels and venues on the East End. Live on the Vine is a collaborative effort between East End Arts, The Long Island Wine Council and The Long Island Convention and Visitors Bureau.
