(Long Island, NY) The Seventh Squad reports the arrest of a Massapequa man at 2:55pm on Friday, July 10, 2015.
According to Detectives, defendant Ronell Jones, 25, on June 23, 2015 did engage in a verbal argument with the female victim, 21, of Massapequa. That argument became heated and twice the defendant did put his hands around the victim’s neck and applied pressure until she lost consciousness.

After regaining consciousness the victim left the scene on foot and attempted to use her cellular telephone when the defendant came up behind her and grabbed the phone from her and began running from the scene. The victim was brought to an area hospital where she was treated and released.
The investigation led to the arrest of the defendant without incident on July 10, 2015.
Defendant Ronell Jones is charged with two counts of Strangulation 2nd degree, Robbery 3rd degree and Grand Larceny 4th degree. He will be arraigned on Saturday July 11, 2015 in First District Court Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
