(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police on Monday, November 9 arrested a Mastic man who robbed a Capitol One bank in Shirley on November 9.
A man entered the Capital One, located at 800 Montauk Highway, approached a teller at approximately 5 p.m. and presented a note demanding cash. The teller complied and the man fled on foot through the parking lot in a southerly direction.

After thorough investigation utilizing witness statements and video surveillance, Pattern Crime Unit detectives identified Brian Makosiej, 39, of Mastic as the robber. Makosiej was charged with Robbery 3rd Degree.
He was held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on November 14.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
