(Long Island, NY) Seventh Squad detectives report the arrest of a Mastic man for a Burglary that occurred on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 11:10 pm in Massapequa.
According to detectives, the owner of A&F Fire Prevention, located at 28 E. Chestnut Street, Massapequa, and while at his place of business, observed that a Rigid drill set was missing from his office. After reviewing surveillance camera footage, the victim observed the actions of two subjects who gained access to his office by forcing open a small window at the business.

A subsequent investigation led to discovery of latent fingerprints which were recovered from the window, which was the point of entry.
On December 17, 2014, a forensic match, which was obtained by the Medical Examiner Division of Forensic Services, was made identifying the fingerprints of Francisco Merced, 25.
Merced’s whereabouts were obtained and on May 27, 2015, he was placed under arrest while in Bay Shore with incident. The proceeds of the burglary have since been recovered.
Merced is charged with Burglary 3rd Degree and will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 06/04/2015.
The investigation and arrest of the second subject is ongoing.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
