Restaurant in Albertson donates to charity
(Long Island, NY) Throughout October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month Mitch & Toni’s restaurant in Albertson set aside ten percent of the sales for selected cocktails and strawberry shortcake, plus all the income from specially printed pink tee shirts, to raise money for the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program. The effort netted $1200, which was donated to the program to help them in their work to educate, support, empower and advocate for breast cancer patients, professionals and the community.
Owners Mitch SuDoc and Toni Contino were especially interested in drawing attention to the fact that men also get breast cancer. One of their waiters, Anthony Galasso, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005.
“This generous contribution from Mitch & Toni’s helps us in our work in provide services to breast cancer patients,” said program director Hillary Rutter, noting that the Adelphi program had been the first in the country to provide a support group for men with breast cancer.
