Comprehensive plan to correct Common Core and improve education system
(Long Island, NY) Assemblyman Michael Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head) and the Assembly Minority Conference officially released the Achieving Pupil Preparedness and Learning Excellence (APPLE) Plan today. The result of months of hearings held by the Minority Conference and the input of parents and educators, the APPLE Plan would scale back Common Core and high-stakes testing while boosting school aid, ensuring our teachers can provide children with the top-notch education they deserve.
“Clearly, the implementation and high-stakes testing laid out in Common Core’s roll-out have caused more problems than they have solved,” said Montesano. “The APPLE Plan takes into consideration the input from parents and teachers that went missing in the implementation of Common Core and creates a pathway to successfully educate our children and provide them with the tools they need to succeed.”
