(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a man in North Amityville on Tuesday, December 15.
Reginald Celifie was driving a 1995 Honda Civic eastbound on Brefni Street when he was struck by a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer that was traveling southbound on Geraldine Avenue. The driver of the Trailblazer fled the scene on foot. The investigation revealed that the Trailblazer had been reported stolen on December 8.

The driver of the Trailblazer was described as a black male, approximately 20 years old, clean-shaven, between 5 feet 7 inches tall and 5 feet 8 inches tall with a slim build. He was wearing blue jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt, and a black wool hat.
Celifie, 32, of Lindenhurst, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.
