Sentencing of Massapequa man scheduled for June 22
(Long Island, NY) A jury has convicted a Massapequa man of murder in the second degree, two counts of attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree for his role in the shooting death of James Terry and wounding of two other men during a confrontation in the Andpress Plaza housing complex parking lot in North Amityville in January of 2010, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.
Shawn Lawrence faces a maximum sentence of 75 years to life in state prison when he is sentenced on June 22. The jury deliberated for approximately three hours before finding him guilty of all charges.

“There is a measure of vindication in the jury’s rejection of the defense attorney’s efforts to find fault in the investigation of his client and their conviction of Shawn Lawrence on all charges,” District Attorney Spota said.
On January 12, 2010 Lawrence and codefendant Alan McGhee of North Amityville fired shots into a van killing Terry, 44, and wounding David Hodges of Copiague and Ralph Council of North Amityville. McGhee, 27, pleaded guilty last year to first-degree manslaughter and two counts of first-degree assault and is serving a 12 year sentence in an upstate correctional facility.
Sentencing before State Supreme Court Justice William Condon is scheduled forJune 22.
