(Long Island, NY) The Crimes Against Property Squad reports the details of three arrests for Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument that occurred on March 24, 2014 in Rockville Centre.
According to detectives, on March 23, 2014 defendants Ramel Epps, 23, of 37 Elm Street, Freeport, Frederick Barrett, 31, of 134 Long Beach Road, Hempstead, and Brattie Guerra, 21, of 46 Weberfield Avenue, Freeport, along with an additional female (not yet arrested), entered CVS 598 Merrick Road and made purchases using counterfeit $100 dollar bills. On March 24, 2014 at 12:19 AM the two defendants entered the same CVS store and tried to purchase more items using additional counterfeit $100 dollar bills. Employees from the store recognized the men and called Rockville Centre police. The defendants were arrested without incident. Subsequent to an arrest the defendants were found to have fifty five (55) counterfeit $100 dollar bills in their possession.

Defendant Epps is charged with 31 counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument. Defendant Barrett is being charged with 19 counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument. They will be arraigned on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at First District Court, Hempstead. Defendant Guerra is charged with thirteen (13) counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree and will be arraigned in First District Court, on March 28, 2014.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
