(Long Island, NY) Nassau County Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter, PBA President James Carver and NCPD Foundation Chairman Eric Blumencranz will host a holiday shopping spree for over a hundred homeless children at Matty’s Toy Store, 1350 Peninsula Boulevard in Hewlett , NY on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at 11:00 am.
The children will be getting a holiday treat thanks to the generosity of the Nassau County Police Department. The Nassau County Police PBA and Nassau County Police Foundation will be playing Santa by providing buses and free new toys for families at homeless shelters across Long Island. Each child will receive a hundred dollars to spend. Due to the tough economy, some families can’t afford some of the expenses associated with the holidays.
According to the most recent U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development survey, the national percentage of homelessness totals roughly 1.6 million people, On Long Island there are over 8,000 homeless students, indicating a sharp a rise among the youth population.
