Legendary Clam House to Celebrate with hundreds of patrons
(Long Island, NY) Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray will join Island Park Mayor Michael G. McGinty in celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the legendary Peter’s Clam Bar. The famous Clam Bar, is a South Shore institution that was built in 1939 and opened in the Summer of 1940. The ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 12p.m.at 600 Long Beach Road in Island Park.
Peter’s Clam Bar has survived many hurricanes throughout the years, including heavy damage during SuperStorm Sandy in which it was four feet under water. Local community groups and residents will join the festivities along with musicians dressed in periodic attire and singing swing music from the 1940’s. Peter’s Clam Bar will be rolling back prices during lunch from the original seven decades old menu ago with 10 cent coffee and a dollar for a dozen clams along with .75 cent clam chowder
