(Mineola, NY) The Nassau County Bar Association’s bi-partisan Judiciary Committee today released its findings of judicial candidates who are on the Nassau County November 5, 2013 election ballot. The following candidates have been found “well qualified”:

- Marc Laykind
- Long Beach City Court Judge
- Theodore E. Hommel
Additional candidates for Supreme Court Justice who will appear on the Nassau ballot – Paul E. Hennings, Matthew G. Hughes, Arthur G. Pitts, David T. Reilly and Gary J. Weber — are Suffolk County residents and were screened by the Suffolk County Bar Association. Also, Scott H. Siller, candidate for Nassau County District Court Judge (3rd District), and Roy Tepper, candidate for Long Beach City Court Judge, accepted designations as candidates without screening by the Nassau County Bar Association.
Each year, the Judiciary Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association screens candidates who are running for judicial office at the request of the candidate or a political party. Each candidate’s qualifications and background are thoroughly examined, and personal interviews are conducted before the entire committee. Judiciary Committee members have the option of finding each candidate either “well qualified” or “not approved at this time.”
