(Long Island, NY) The Crimes Against Property Squad reports the arrest of a Baldwin man on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 6:35 p.m. in Bellmore.
According to detectives, the defendant Tariq R. Shirley, 22 of 1006 Centennial Avenue entered the P.C. Richards store located at 701 Sunrise Highway and attempted to purchase multiple items using a stolen P.C Richards Credit Card. Shirley presented a forged Connecticut License to the sales person along with the credit card. Seventh Precinct Officers were notified and responded to the store where they placed Shirley under arrest without incident.

Shirley is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd degree (Attempt), Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th degree, and Identity Theft 1st degree. He will be arraigned on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at First district court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
