(Long Island, NY) The Third Squad reports the details of six arrests from an incident that occurred at 8:10 pm on Sunday, December 27, 2015 in East Garden City.
According to Detectives, Third Precinct officers responded to a disturbance at Garden City Bowl located at 987 Stewart Avenue. Defendant Deyahna Curtis, 21, of Hempstead became involved in a verbal argument with a female victim, 24, that escalated into a physical altercation, when co-defendant April Newson, 17, of Hempstead became involved striking the victim.

Several other defendants at this time joined in and during the altercation the victim’s wallet containing an undisclosed amount of US currency, debit cards and personal papers were taken. Defendants Curtis and Newson and the following defendants were placed into custody at scene.

Four officers sustained minor injuries and were treated at scene.

Defendant Curtis is charged with Robbery 2nd degree, three (3) counts of Assault 2nd degree and assault 3rd degree. Defendant Newson is charged with robbery 2nd degree and Assault 2nd Degree. Defendant Roberts is charged with Assault 2nd degree, Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 5th degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Government Administration and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. Defendant Grier is charged with assault 2nd degree and Disorderly Conduct. Defendants Greta Price and Merry Allen are charged with Disorderly Conduct.
All defendants will be arraigned on Monday, December 28, 2015 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
