(Albany, NY) Local residents will don hazardous material cleanup (“hazmat”) suits in the state Capitol on Tuesday, April 15th to protest Big Oil’s plans to turn New York into a global crude oil transport hub, as well as to call out the industry’s idea of 21st century economic development: spill cleanup.
The oil industry’s agenda, which has been to secretly backdoor a massive increase in rail and barge transport of dangerous oil, has opened New York’s doors to Canadian Tar Sands. Speakers will release a call from national environmental leaders urging Governor Andrew Cuomo and his administration to step up their actions in order to hold Big Oil accountable and protect public health.
