(Long Island, NY) County Executive Edward P. Mangano and Police Commissioner Thomas V. Dale announced today that the Nassau County Police Department will be participating in the “30th Annual National Night Out” a unique crime/drug prevention event on Tuesday August 6, 2013.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
1st PCT Veterans Memorial Park, East Meadow Avenue/Prospect Avenue, East Meadow, 1900-2100 hours. Legislator Norma Gonsalves will be in attendance. First Precinct POP Officers will discuss crime prevention and other Department Programs.
Cow Meadow Park at the end of Main St., Freeport, 1900-2100 hours. Legislators Abrahams, Denenberg and Scannell will be in attendance. First Precinct POP Officers will discuss crime prevention and other Department Programs. Explorers will be in attendance as well.
2nd PCT N Theodore Roosevelt Park, Oyster Bay: DI Bartsherer and POP Officer Fucito availing the community with various brochures for their awareness in preventing crime. Various Department programs will be discussed.
2Target Shopping Center on Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown: DI Johnsen and POP Officer Lamonaca will discuss Department Programs also availing the community with various brochures for their awareness in preventing crime.
3rd PCT N Jonathan L. Ielpi Firefighters Park on Grace Ave., Great Neck Plaza, 1800 – 2130: POP Officers Peter Chuchul, PO Steven Krukowski, This location and time period has been selected to give the Command the added advantage of being visible and available to the public during the village’s Music in the Park Festival in the village’s busy downtown district. They will also be joined by Mayor Jean Celendar and her staff from the Village of Great Neck Plaza. They have extended an invitation to Town of North Hempstead Supervisor John Kaiman and Nassau County Legislator Judith Bosworth and their staffs to share in the festivities on this evening.
3rd PCT S Town Square at Veterans Memorial Park, Prospect Ave, East Meadow 1900 – 2130: POP Officer Sikorski will join with the 1st Precinct and Legislator Norma Gonsalves. This park is physically located within the First Precinct. Local civics from within the 3rd Precinct have been invited to attend. This program will be geared towards Child Safety. Members from the Return Every Adult & Child Home (R.E.A.C.H.) program will also be in attendance. Arson Bomb Squad will perform a robot demonstration. Explorers will also be in attendance.
Village of Williston Park, Neighbor Hood Watch Block Captain meeting at the Village Gazebo, Hillside Ave/ Concord St, 1900. POP Officer Mosesso, along with other members of the command, will assist and represent the command at their Children’s Ride for a Safer Williston Park parade, 1930 hours. This parade will start at the intersection of Broad St/Brown St and will conclude in Kelleher Park. Event contact person is Colleen Carboine, Village of Williston Park.
Westbury/New Cassel Area: Third Precinct POP Sgt Thomas Iannucci, with approximately six POP Officers. The Community will march in unity, parade will proceed south down New York Avenue, turn right onto Broadway, cross Urban Avenue, continue on Broadway until they reach Bunky Reid Park, at which time the parade will then turn left into the Park. All vehicles will line up on Brooklyn Ave facing north and will proceed down Broadway behind the marchers. There will be designated areas for assigned vehicles. The parade will assemble at 1700 hours at the Salvation Army, 992 Prospect Ave, New Cassel. When the parade concludes at Bunky Reid Park, there will be a fair beginning at 1815 hours. 4th PCT S Cedarhurst Park, located at Cedarhurst and Summit Avenues, is the site of the Fourth Precinct South Sub-Division’s National Night Out event, scheduled between 1800-2200 hours. Administrative Sergeant and one POP Police Officer will attend with Crime Prevention literature for distribution. Additionally, Canine will perform a brief demonstration.
4th PCT N Echo Park on Nassau Boulevard, West Hempstead, 1800-2200 hours: CO of the 4th PCT and POP PO Bopp-Carroll. This is in conjunction with the Town of Hempstead’s free summer concert series. Target from Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream will be providing drinks, snack and other handouts.
Legislator Carrie Solages will also be hosting a NNO at the Dutch Broadway Athletic Complex on Dutch Broadway in Elmont from 1800-2100 hours. A PEP officer and Nassau County Explorers will be on hand to distribute crime awareness brochures.
7th PCT John Burns Park on Merrick Road in Massapequa, 1800-2300. CO of the 7th and POP unit will distribute pamphlets and other items prepared by Community Affairs and discuss a variety of Department topics.
