(Long Island, NY) The Third Squad reports the arrest of an Elmont man for an Assault that occurred on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at 6:27 p.m. in East Garden City.
According to detectives, 911 received a call for an aided case at X Port Fitness located at 630 Old Country Road. After evaluating the aided, Demitri Nemorin, 22, was being transported to a local hospital in the rear of a Nassau County Ambulance when he became combative and struck the male victim, 36, a Nassau County Ambulance Medical Technician.

The Third Precinct Officer that was operating the ambulance pulled the vehicle over and assisted in restraining the defendant. Both victim and defendant were transported to the local hospital for treatment of their injuries and Nemorin was placed into custody.
Nemorin is charged Assault 2nd Degree and Criminal Mischief 4th Degree. He will be arraigned on Monday, May 9, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
