(Long Island, NY) The First Squad reports the arrest of a New Jersey man for ID Theft that occurred in North Bellmore on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 6:30 am.
According to detectives, the defendant Damian A. Ricketts, 31, of Orange was discovered by First Precinct Police hiding in a Rosemont Street residence first floor closet after a 72 year old male victim heard noises and called police. Ricketts had entered the house without permission after he was advised earlier in the night not to re-enter the residence by the victim’s 30 year old son.

The defendant was placed into police custody without incident.
A subsequent investigation revealed that Damian A. Ricketts had previously removed credit cards from a wallet belonging to the 30 year old male victim at the same residence and made multiple purchases that included airline tickets causing a loss in excess of $ 1500.00 dollar. There were no injuries reported.
Damian A. Ricketts is charged with Identity Theft 2nd Degree and Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree. He was arraigned on Friday, December 11, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
