(Long Island, NY) The Nassau County Police Department reports an arrest for Driving While Intoxicated on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 8:00 P.M. in Oceanside.
According to police, a Fourth Precinct patrol officer was assigned to assist Long Beach Police with a leaving the scene auto accident that occurred at West Park Avenue and Indiana Avenue. The officer, canvassing for the vehicle that left the scene, located the vehicle and observed it pull into a driveway in Oceanside. The driver of the vehicle, Eileen F. Danon, 43, exited her vehicle. The officer determined she was under the influence of alcohol and placed her under arrest without incident.

At the time of the incident the defendant had three children in the car, ages 6, 9 and 11. The children were left at the scene with a neighbor. No injuries were reported.
Danon is charged with three counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra’s Law), three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Driving While Intoxicated and Leaving the Scene of an Accident Without a Report. She was arraigned on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
