(Glen Cove, NY) Known for developing leaders with a focus on innovation and experiential learning, ORT America – Long Island Region and the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County (“HMTC”) will co-sponsor a program telling an inspiring history of saving lives and futures for 133 years on Sunday, September 29th at the HMTC, in Glen Cove, NY.
“ORT America is proud to partner with the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County, with its unparalleled reputation and our shared goal of using education to promote understanding and tolerance,” said Alan Klugman, ORT America National Executive Director.
According to Steven Markowitz, HMTC Chairman, “ORT and the HMTC share a commitment to education, one of our most basic human rights and our partnership reflects these values.”
A special exhibit will be on display featuring interviews, photos and memorabilia of 18 local ORT graduates who represent 14 different countries; Morocco, Egypt, Poland, Lithuania, Albania, Germany, France, Russia, Israel, Iraq, Iran, Guyana, China and the United States. Among the graduates who have accomplished educational and career success: 8 business leaders, one former Parks Commissioner, two engineers, a former Congressional aide and two Rabbis. The education from ORT not only transformed their lives but also impacted countless families and communities.
“This exhibit illustrates the breadth and scope of ORT America’s work through the words of its alumni. To learn through first-hand accounts the lifelong effect ORT had on each of these people is quite simply awe-inspiring and is a poignant reminder of why we do what we do,” stated Linda Kirschbaum, ORT America National President.
