(Long Island, NY) Barbara Kaplan, founder of the popular annual Over 50 Fair, has launched two new Facebook groups to help Long Island adults over 50 stay current with information and events of interest to them. One is “Health & Wellness – Over 50 on Long Island” www.facebook.com/groups/HealthWellnessOver50LI and is specifically focused on Health and Wellness. The other is “Long Island Baby Boomers & Seniors” www.facebook.com/groups/LIBabyBoomersAndSeniors and contains broader subjects with appeal for Baby Boomers and seniors. The last of the Baby Boomers has reached age 50 by now, so these two groups now overlap. Individuals and businesses are welcome to join both groups. Businesses may post promotional news about their relevant activities and offerings on both sites every Monday.
Recent posts in the Health and Wellness Group include inspirational quotes and an article about a 77 year old sprinter who holds the record for running. The Baby Boomers and Seniors group features recent posts on upcoming comedy shows, singles events, and exercise tips.
The Over 50 Fair is the largest expo for adults age 50+ on Long Island, and it has been building a loyal following among seniors and the Boomer Generation during the five years since its inception due to its consistent presentation of a variety of classes and products that those over 50 find appealing. The sixth annual Over 50 Fair will be held Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Melville Marriott. Classes this year will include saving for retirement, comedy shows, healthy living, and foot care, and over 80 exhibitors will be displaying information about products and services.
