(Long Island, NY) The Second Precinct reports the arrest of an Oyster Bay man for attempted Robbery which occurred on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 9:30 pm in Lattingtown.
According to police, William V. Kalish, 22, was operating a 2011 Mitsubishi northbound on Bayville Road when Second Precinct officers conducted a vehicle and traffic stop at Ryefield Road. The officers observed that Kalish was intoxicated and attempted to place him under arrest.

Kalish began to resist arrest by physically fighting with the officers and he attempted to remove one of the officer’s service weapon from the holster. The officers were able to gain control of the defendant and secure his arrest. Kalish was transported to an area hospital for medical evaluation and released a short time later for processing.
Kalish is charged with Robbery 3rd degree (Attempt), Resisting Arrest, DWI, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree, and multiple Vehicle and Traffic violations.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
