Chain’s Long Island bakery-cafes kick off October fundraiser in a big way
(Long Island, NY) Panera Bread bakery-cafes across Long Island will kick off their annual month-long Pink Ribbon Bagel fundraiser for local breast cancer organizations on Tuesday, October 1.
To jumpstart the campaign, on day one, October 1, “Power of Pink Day,” 100 percent of the purchase price of each Pink Ribbon Bagel sold in its cafes will be donated. Then, throughout the remainder of the month a portion of the proceeds will continue to go to help sustain local breast cancer support, research and education efforts.

BAKING PINK RIBBONS–A DELICIOUS WAY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE – Each October Panera Bread’s Pink Ribbon Bagels have given hope to those facing breast cancer by raising critical funds for research and support services.
Pink Ribbon Bagels have been helping fight breast cancer for more than decade.
Benefitting from this year’s fundraiser will be the Huntington Breast Cancer Action Coalition, the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program and Cold Spring Harbor Research Laboratory.
Pink Ribbon Bagels are Cherry Vanilla Bagels–brown-sugar sweetened, wholesome cranberry-cherry chip bagels—that are shaped into iconic “pink ribbons” as a symbol of hope to help support local breast cancer programs.
Panera is urging businesses, organizations and individuals to get involved.
“Our POWER OF PINK DAY provides the perfect excuse to start off the month with a bagel party at work or with friends on the 1st,” says Greg George, Vice President of Operations for the Long Island bakery-cafes. During the remainder of October a portion of the sales of Pink Ribbon Bagels will continue to benefit three Long Island breast cancer programs.
Last year, Panera Bread’s Pink Ribbon Bagel campaign raised over $30,000 locally and the chain expects to top that this year.
