(Long Island, NY) The Homicide Squad reports the details of a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 2:35 p.m. in Oceanside.
According to detectives, June Gerin, 90, of Oceanside was assisting a female friend, 89 years of age, move her 1999 Ford sedan to the top of the driveway of her Windsor Parkway residence. The driver mistakenly placed the car in reverse, striking the victim as she stood behind the auto. The car continued in reverse across the road where it came to rest.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased by hospital personnel. The driver was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The vehicle passed brake and safety tests that were conducted at the scene.
The incident has been deemed accidental.
