(Long Island, NY) The Homicide Squad reports the details of a serious vehicle accident that occurred on Friday, July 25, 2015 at 5:35 p.m. in Merrick.
According to detectives, a 48 year old male was crossing from the north side of Sunrise Highway to the south side at Merrick Avenue.

When he reached the east bound lanes he was struck by a 2011 Honda Civic being driven by a 49 year old male who was travelling south on Merrick Avenue making a left turn to head eastbound on Sunrise Highway.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was admitted in serious condition. The driver remained at scene and his vehicle was impounded for brake and safety checks.
The investigation is ongoing and there appears to be no criminality at this time.
