(Long Island, NY) On December 15, 2013, Le Petit Salon de Musique will present the exciting cello and piano duo of Ismar Gomes and Wan-Chi Su. Gomes and Su met when they were both attending graduate school at the prestigious Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University. The two began rehearsing and performing together, focusing on pieces for cello and piano that display their virtuoso abilities. In addition to mastering the available repertoire from Beethoven and Schubert to Poulenc and Schnittke, they have begun to commission and perform pieces from contemporary composers.

Ismar Sergio Gomes is an accomplished orchestral and chamber musician. He serves as Assistant Principal cello of the Mid-Atlantic Symphony and Principal of Bel Cantanti Opera and regularly appears with many other orchestras along the east coast. Gomes has performed throughout the US and Europe, including tours of the Netherlands in addition to concerts in France and Canada. He recently served as acting cellist with the Harlem String Quartet, which toured throughout the US, receiving enthusiastic reviews at every stop. Apart from his extensive work as a baroque cellist, Mr. Gomes has commissioned and premiered many works by emerging composers, most recently working with Marc Neikrug and Paul Moravec.
In her native Taiwan, pianist Wan-Chi Su received major prizes at the Taiwan National Student Music Competition and at the Taiwan Cultural Cup Invitational Piano Competition. She has since been invited to participate in many international music festivals, including the Beethoven Institute (NY) and the Paris Piano Program. Ms. Su is a dynamic and sought-after performer in the Baltimore area as a chamber musician and vocal accompanist.
