(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police on Tuesday, July 14 arrested Peter Iatauro, 32, of Medford, for robbing a Port Jefferson Station bank earlier this month.
Peter Iatauro, 32, was charged by Pattern Crime Unit detectives with Robbery 3rd Degree for robbing HSBC Bank on July 10 and by the Sixth Precinct Special Operations Team detectives with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree for possession of heroin.

Iatauro entered the HSBC Bank, located at 574 Jefferson Shopping Plaza, at approximately 2:35 p.m., approached a teller and presented a note demanding cash. The teller complied with the demand and the suspect fled on foot southbound on Route 112.
Iatauro will be held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District in Central Islip on July 15.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
