(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Department Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred in Holtsville on Wednesday, August 26.
David Hutchings was driving a 2005 GMC pickup truck eastbound on the Eastbound Long Island Expressway near exit 63 when vehicle collided with the center median near the HOV lane at approximately 1:15 p.m. The vehicle came to a stop at the median.

When police and rescue personnel arrived, they found Hutchins behind the wheel and unconscious. Hutchings, 63, of Coram, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital by the Holtsville Fire Department ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives believe Hutchings suffered a medical emergency which caused the crash. The vehicle was impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
