(Long Island, NY) Narcotics/Vice Squad detectives report the details of five arrests for possession of a controlled substance and stolen property which occurred in Lynbrook on Wednesday, 06/10/15 at 3:05 P.M.
According to detectives, Nassau County Narcotics detectives along with Bureau of Special Operations police officers met with five defendants at Saperstein Plaza/Ross Plaza to purchase a stolen computer. The defendants, who were in a 2005 BMW, were additionally found to be in possession of heroin, cocaine, Suboxone and marijuana. The defendants are listed as follows:
- Jamel Turner, 21, of Bellport
- Oscar Oliva, 22, of Melville
- Oscar Ortez, 21, of Huntington Station
- Jeanette Patterson, 19, of Amityville
- Shannon Copelin, 30, of Bellmore
All five defendants are each being charged with three counts of Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 3rd Degree. Turner is additionally being charged with Criminal Sale Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession Stolen Property 3rd Degree. All defendants will be arraigned on Thursday, 06/11/15 in First District Court, Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
