(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police have arrested a Holtsville woman for driving while intoxicated with her five-year-old daughter in the vehicle on Saturday February 6.
Fourth Precinct patrol officers responded to a call about an intoxicated driver of a grey Nissan Frontier on Hawkins Avenue in Ronkonkoma at approximately 4:50 p.m. The caller followed the vehicle and informed police that the driver pulled into the parking lot of the Stop and Shop supermarket on Portion Road in Ronkonkoma. Patrol officers located the vehicle and soon after, the driver, Justine Connors, returned to her vehicle. Upon investigation, it was determined that Connors had been driving while under the influence and had her five-year-old daughter in the car at the time.

Connors, 30, Holtsville, as arrested and charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child 15 Years Old or Younger (Leandra’s Law), Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree, and Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree for violating an order of protection prohibiting Connors from being under the influence in the presence of her daughter. In addition, Connors was charged with Petit Larceny because she took merchandise from Stop and Shop and left without paying for the items.
Connors is being held at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip. Her daughter was released to another family member.
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact the Fourth Squad at 854-8452.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
