UPDATE: Timothy Melia, 30, of Bay Shore, has been identified as the driver who was killed in a single-car crash on East Bartlett Road in Middle Island on May 28. The investigation is continuing.

(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorist in Middle Island on Thursday, May 28.
A man was driving a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe, apparently eastbound on E. Bartlett Road, when he failed to negotiate a turn in the road. The vehicle struck a utility support pole and went off the roadway into a wooded marshy area.

The vehicle flipped over onto its side. The driver was pronounced dead by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
The identity of the driver is being withheld pending notification of family.
