(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a man in Bay Shore on Friday, December 25.
Emmanuel DeJesus Cruz Zavala was crossing in front of 1090 Candlewood Road when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene at approximately 5:08 p.m. Cruz Zavala, 33, of Bay Shore, was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses describe the vehicle as a dark-colored sedan. The suspect fled southeast on Candlewood Road, towards Commack Road. Police believe there is damage to the passenger side front fender of the car.
