(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in North Babylon on Tuesday, February 2.
John Farina was driving a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound on Route 231 near Pell Avenue at 3:53 a.m. when his vehicle struck a male pedestrian.

The pedestrian, Joseph Lozada, 19, of Babylon, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Farina, 59, of Cape Coral, Florida, was not injured.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
