(Long Island, NY) Third Squad detectives report the arrest of a Central Islip man for a Robbery that occurred on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 7:14 am in Carle Place.
According to detectives, while waiting for the Long Island Railroad on Cherry Lane, Carle Place, the 23 year old male victim was approached by Taimak Witherspoon, 20.

Witherspoon, who was holding a 3 foot wooden stick, demanded the victim’s property. After obtaining a wallet the defendant jumped a fence into the parking lot and fled northbound.
Third Precinct officers observed Witherspoon a short time later on the corner of Silver Lake Boulevard and Roslyn Avenue. The defendant fled on foot westbound and was apprehended on Roslyn Avenue.
Witherspoon is charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th Degree and will be arraigned on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
