(Long Island, NY) Fourth Squad detectives report the details of an arrest for burglary that occurred in Woodmere on Friday, 03/06/15 at 11:00 A.M.
According to detectives, Jonathan Hoffman, 45, of Woodmere, entered a residence on June Court, through an open door, and once inside removed cash, assorted jewelry, a cell phone, a passport and checkbooks. Additionally, the defendant wrote a fraudulent check, from the stolen checkbook, in the amount of $10,000 which he deposited into his bank account. The defendant, who is known to the victim, was identified by witnesses.

Fourth Squad detectives arrested Hoffman on Sunday, 09/13/15. He is being charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, Possession Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and will be arraigned on Monday, 09/14/15 in First District Court, Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
