Throne-Holst holds 11-point lead
(Long Island, NY) In case you missed it, a poll conducted by Anzalone Liszt Grove Research that was reported on today shows Anna Throne-Holst leading her primary opponent David Calone among Democratic voters by 11 points, 36 to 25 percent. Furthermore, the poll found that when one zeroes in on “high frequency” voters most likely to turn out in the primary election this June, Throne-Holst’s lead grows to a 48 to 22 percent lead.
The poll also found that Throne-Holst has a significantly higher level of name recognition among Democratic primary voters in the district, 40 percent to Calone’s 29 percent.
“Anna has spent her career providing opportunities for Long Island Families. As Supervisor, she fixed Southampton’s finances and used the savings to invest in job creation, senior services and children. And as director of the Bridgehampton Child Care Center, she expanded services to families in need” said Andrew Grunwald, Anna Throne-Holst’s Campaign Manager. “It’s clear that as voters have learned more about Anna’s progressive leadership, they are excited to support her candidacy.”
The poll comes following news over the past few months of top national and local Democrats rallying around Anna Throne-Holst’s candidacy. Throne-Holst has been endorsed by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer, Rep. Steve Israel, Rep. Jerrold Nadler, Rep. Joe Crowley, Rep. Kathleen Rice, Rep. Carolyn Maloney, Rep. Paul Tonko and former Rep. Carolyn McCarthy.
She’s also been endorsed by EMILY’s List and a number of local elected officials including Suffolk County Legislator Bill Lindsay, Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman, Shelter Island Town Supervisor Jim Dougherty, Assemblyman Fred Thiele and others.
The poll of 351 Democratic voters was conducted between Feb. 3 and Feb. 9; it has a margin of error of 5.24 percentage points.
