(Queens, NY) Queens Council on the Arts hosted an Open House on Wednesday, January 29 to celebrate the 2014 Queens Arts Fund (QAF) and Seniors Partnering with Artists Citywide (SPARC) recipients. QCA is proud to support the creative contributions of the borough’s creative citizens.

This annual event brought together over 50 Queens Artists to our space to celebrate their performances and exhibitions that will take place in Queens. Queens Arts Fund provides funding for projects throughout the borough in a wide range of disciplines, enabling residents and visitors alike to experience high quality art all year long. SPARC (Seniors Partnering with Artists Citywide) is a community arts engagement program that places artists-in-residence at senior centers across the five boroughs of New York City.

This year, QCA is happy to announce that the Queens Arts Fund will distribute over $175,000 to 31 Queens individual artists and 47 arts organizations in the disciplines of visual arts, film, theatre, multi-media, literary arts, dance and music. Eleven artists were selected to partner with senior centers through the SPARC Residency program.

SPARC: Seniors Partnering with Artists Citywide, a residency program is collaboration among the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, the Department for the Aging and the city’s five local arts councils. The program is supported in part by public funds provided by the Department for the Aging.
