(Long Island, NY) Queens Council on the Arts is excited to be recruiting new students into the High School to Art School (HS2AS) fall session, which will run October through January on Thursday and Saturdays. Interviews will take place Saturday, September 19th from9am-2pm at QCA, 37-11 35th Ave, (Entrance on 37th St) Astoria, NY 11101.
If you are serious about applying to art schools, we offer extensive preparation through rigorous arts instruction and regular college preparation workshops. In addition to refining their portfolios, you will learn essay-writing techniques, receive college application assistance, and acquire financial aid planning skills necessary to gain acceptance and scholarships to competitive art schools.
This FREE program fills up quick! Submit your application HERE. Applicants are required to bring five drawings to the interview to be reviewed by our teachers. Participants are then chosen based on merit and need, as this is a scholarship-based program, and we hope to reach students who would otherwise not receive services.

“I have found myself learning a lot not only about art but the idea of it. I’ve learned that the idea behind art can be just as important as the art piece itself. This has opened my eyes and led me to look at art pieces in a different light. The program not only helps me become a better artist but let’s me explore art intellectually, through a lot of writing and thinking.” – Sobel Uribe, Cooper Union class of 2019. Having served high school students of all backgrounds in the greater NYC area for over a decade, HS2AS has helped over 800 students reach their goal of being accepted into the best art programs and colleges throughout the country. HS2AS students have been accepted to The Cooper Union, Pratt, Parsons, New York University, Fashion Institute of Technology, CUNY-Hunter College, SUNY-Purchase, RISD, and more.
