(Long Island, NY) The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Queens man for a Robbery which occurred on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 12:08 a.m. in Stewart Manor.
According to detectives, Third Precinct Officers responded to Tulip Avenue for a robbery in progress assignment. A male victim, 39, was approached by a male white armed with a handgun who demanded his money. The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

While investigating the incident, officers observed James Caffrey, 22, of Bayside walking northbound on Covert Avenue. He was identified as the suspect from the robbery and placed under arrest. A pellet gun was recovered.
During the investigation Caffrey was identified as the suspect in a robbery which occurred on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 on Tulip Avenue in Elmont.
According to detectives, a male victim, 18, left work at Keyfood, located at 151 Covert Avenue on February 2 and was walking westbound on Tulip Avenue, in the vicinity of Landau Avenue he was approached by Caffrey, who verbally demanded money and stated “I’ll shoot you, I just got out of jail”.
The victim complied when he saw what appeared to be a handgun in the subject’s waistband. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of US currency Caffrey fled on foot southbound on Landau Avenue. No injuries were reported.
Caffrey is charged with two counts of Robbery 2nd degree. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
