(Rockville Centre, NY) Rockville Centre Mayor Francis X. Murray urges residents to prepare accordingly as the region enters the 2013 hurricane season. Hurricane season began June 1st and extends through November 30th. The region is typically most susceptible to hurricanes in August, but the time to prepare is now.
“The time to prepare for a hurricane is before one threatens the area to ensure the safety of you and your loved ones. Stay informed of any changing weather patterns, make a plan to get out quickly if evacuation is necessary and prepare an emergency kit”, stated Mayor Murray.
Residents are encouraged to visit the Village of Rockville Centre’s website www.rvcny.us for more information.
Once there they may also sign up for the Swift911 emergency notification service which, in its simplest form, is a system that makes phone calls to specific people or areas in the event of an emergency or for sharing important information. You will also find links to follow the Village on Facebook and Twitter which provides another avenue by which to stay up to date in the event of an emergency.
