(Long Island, NY) The First Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead man for Unlawful Imprisonment which occurred on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 3:05 a.m. in Roosevelt.
According to detectives, Tyler Gunter, 23, arrived at his former girlfriend’s home at 3:05 a.m. and engaged in an argument which escalated to a physical confrontation. Gunter forced the 23 year old victim into his 2007 Hummer H3 and drove to his home. A short time after being forced into his home the victim was able to escape and return to her house.

While First Precinct Officers were at the victim’s home a call for an automobile accident was dispatched at 3:48 a.m. for a vehicle into a gas station at USA Gas station located at 224 Nassau Road. Gunter was found in the vehicle and transported to an area hospital where he was admitted in serious condition with major head trauma. The victim did not suffer any injuries.
Gunter is charged with Unlawful Imprisonment 1st degree. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
